There is built in firmware, that can be accessed by putting the default setting in the browser. The setting I used was 192.168.2.1 Once you enter this into your web browser, exactly as it is shown, you should get the firmware webinterface. Check the left hand column menu options. One is listed as Access Point. Once you click on this item, you might get asked for a password. By default, there is NO password, just click apply, or enter as the case may be. Just disable the access point feature. There should be a simple screen with the enable or disable access point feature. Apply, and reboot.
The (F5D7231-4) can only be used as a Wireless router
Every router and access point have a way to reset it without software. Most routers have a small push button that you can press with a paper clip. It is router specific. It means that you will have to find manual for your access point to get specific instructions. Belkin website will have everything you need.
i. Setting up the access point as an access point - The Access Point mode is the default setting of most Linksys wireless access points. It allows you to extend the range of an existing wireless signal by connecting the access point to a wireless router via Ethernet connection.
Disable the broadcast of the SSID on the access point.
These days I would make all settings to the max unless I have a good reason not to. Passwords can be 256 characters long these days and if I skimp on security then sure as day follows night there will be someone who wants to take advantage of my good nature and use my access point for things I do NOT agree with.
Yes, you can. Check the router settings. There is an option: work like access point (or something like that). Then connect your PC(s) to the router, configure DHCP server, if you have to, connect modem cable to router in the proper port and have fun.
There should be a "reset" button (not exactly a button, should be a hole kind, have to use a pencil/pen to push it), just push it to reset it to factory setting. Then go from there. Piggy
Decrease the power setting
No, probably not as the whole point of Netbooks is to give cheap and easliy carried access to the Internet. The clue is in the name, really! It is possible to disable the WiFi facility, but the hardware and software to run the connection would still be installed on the Netbook.
it is a access point that is free to use
In Priority-Based Access, the access point device also functions as a point coordinator
you cant get internet without an access point.
