When Walt Disney was alive, Walt Disney had a big helping hand in building Disney Land. He even saw the grand opening of the park, and still has a 'secret' room inside the building that is devoted to the fire station there. He did help a little tiny bit in Disney World, but he was getting gravely ill, and couldn't help, and was not able to see his finished product be completed.
Walt Disney himself said his parks were something that would never finished. He always wanted them to grow and change and be re-imagined for generations to come.
It's Disney World!
"Disney World."
Walt Disney drew the plans and everything for Walt Disney World but he died before consruction was finished, and he never got to see his dream. But, then his brother, Roy, took over to finish the building after Walt. Though, it took him a while to agree because Roy didn't want to be head of Disney, but he did agree, finally.
Roy Disney, brother of Walt Disney (1899-1966) opened Disney World (now Walt Disney World, or formally The Walt Disney World Resort) near Orlando, Florida in 1971.
