An electrolyte is any substance containing free ions that behaves as an electrically conductive medium.

  • Distilled water ionizes only slightly (Keq = 1x10-7) but it will pass a negligible current.
  • Liquid carbon dioxide ionizes even more poorly than water.
  • Molten sodium chloride will pass a current nicely because the ions are quite free to move. Once the sodium chloride melts, all of the ions are free to dissociate.
  • Oxidized copper--the oxide layer will form dross that will float on the liquid copper and the de-localized electron cloud of the metal will pass an electric current very well but you can't consider it to be an electrolyte because it is a metal. If the material had been called copper (I) or copper (II) oxide instead of oxidized copper, that would indicate a pure ionic substance. You could expect that oxides of copper would dissociate into free ions when molten but, since this is an ambiguous description it can only be correct if you argue the point.
  • Hydrogen peroxide ionizes the same as water.
The best single choice is NaCl.
If more than one can be selected, go with: H2O, H2O2 and NaCl.

What compounds in the liquid phase is a electrolyte carbon dioxide sodium chloride distilled water or hydrogen peroxide?

sodium chloride, due to the presence of free moving ions.

Is sodium chloride a strong electrolyte when distilled in water?

Yes, when is dissolved (not distilled) in water or when is melted.

What one is considered a electrolyte carbon dioxide sodium chloride distilled water hydrogen peroxide?

Sodium chloride, because it will dissolve in water with almost total ionization.

What is a electrolyte carbon dioxide sodium chloride distilled water or hydrogen peroxide?

sodium chloride (in aqueous solution or in molten state) is an electrolyte.

What happens if distilled water gets added to sodium chloride?

It will burst out the soda crystals and distilled water.

Cansodium chloride compounds in the liquid phase be considered an electrolyte?

yes, but sodium chloride has a melting point of 801 degrees C, so I doubt you would want to ingest melted NaCl.

Why electrolysis does not take place in distilled water?

You will need a electrolyte for it conduct electricity such as sodium chloride (table salt).

Yes, it is ionic.

Is dry sodium chloride a strong electrolyte?

Solid sodium chloride is not an electrolyte.

Which compounds in the liquid phase can be considered as electrolytes?

Most electrolytes are mixtures not compounds. Some examples are baking soda and H2O, salt water (NaCl + H2O), copper sulfate (CuSO4 + H20), and sodium sulfite (Na2SO3 + H20).what is this web siteMolten salts, including some that are liquid at room temperature.
