DO:
Protect yourself from bloodborne pathogens
Remember ABC's
Airway - head tilt/chin lift, jaw thrust/modified jaw thrust if it's a traumatic injury
Breathing - Breathing? 2 rescue breaths. Breathing? If not, start CPR
Circulation - Stop any severe bleeding. Check for a pulse. If it won't stop bleeding with direct pressure, tourniquet.
Reassure the victim
9-1-1 if it's severe, you won't have the resources to properly treat the patient!
Flush burns and chemical injuries with lots of cool water
DON'T:
Move the victim unless necessary
Place yourself in danger - if you are dead or injured you're no good to anyone
Try to "set" or "reduce" a fracture or dislocation, just immobilize
Remove objects stuck in the eye
Use burn ointment
Wait to call 9-1-1
Most importantly, use your common sense!
