DO:

Protect yourself from bloodborne pathogens

Remember ABC's

Airway - head tilt/chin lift, jaw thrust/modified jaw thrust if it's a traumatic injury

Breathing - Breathing? 2 rescue breaths. Breathing? If not, start CPR

Circulation - Stop any severe bleeding. Check for a pulse. If it won't stop bleeding with direct pressure, tourniquet.

Reassure the victim

9-1-1 if it's severe, you won't have the resources to properly treat the patient!

Flush burns and chemical injuries with lots of cool water

DON'T:

Move the victim unless necessary

Place yourself in danger - if you are dead or injured you're no good to anyone

Try to "set" or "reduce" a fracture or dislocation, just immobilize

Remove objects stuck in the eye

Use burn ointment

Wait to call 9-1-1

Most importantly, use your common sense!
