I don't see why not, as long as the boy doesn't play it too close to bedtime that they become distressed at the idea of ending their game time then yes I would say it's fine.
Just set limits on when he can play it so that there aren't any upsets when the game has to come off and he can still go to bed with enough time away from the game to allow him to settle.
