Depends on the child and on the day- my daughter is 7 and only needs a nap when she didn't get enough sleep the night before or had a long morning full of activity. She did still take naps 1/2 way through the year of her being 5 years old, but slowly phased them out, showing me she could be good without one.
You will still need 8 hours of sleep a night even if you had a 1 hour nap.
Some 6 year olds only need that much. If he is no more tired than usual during the day - you will notice this by irritability, a general look of tiredness or blankness, being slower than usual, etc. - or does not have a nap in the afternoon, then he is fine.

About 10-12 hours a night. If she gets adequate sleep, she most likely will no longer need a nap during the day. But this is just an average....only you know your child's individual needs.
