Yes, Bibles are updated through the years because the vocabulary of people change as years pass, and some words that are used in older versions of The Bible, are not commonly used in present time. For example, if you say something is cool nowadays it means that it is stylish, or funky, but back then it was just cold, or chill. Different Bibles, such as different versions, or Bibles for kids or for teens, will use different vocabulary to get the message more clear according to whom they refer to. Also different religions have different Bibles. For example the Christian Bible, will not be the same as the Catholic Bible, because they are different religions.

There are a couple issues with answering this question. Firstly, Christianity holds that it is permissible to translate the Bible, resulting in numerous versions merely through the act of translation to languages that did not previously have a Bible. In fact, many languages from the heart of Africa or Polynesia were only standardized, given a written form, and properly studied in order to be able to write a Bible in that tongue. Secondly, not all versions of Christianity agree on what the Bible contains. There is what is commonly called the Deuterocanon or Apocrypha which refers to Old Testament books that may or may not be included depending on the denomination of Christianity. As a result, the Books of Meqabyan are only in Bibles of Ethiopian Orthodox Christians. Maccabees 3 & 4 are only in the Bibles of Eastern Orthodox Christians. A partial Deuterocanon is observed by the Catholics and some Protestants use it and others completely abandon the Deuterocanon. As a result you may have Bibles that agree word for word with all books that they share, but do not share every book. Thirdly, some versions of Christianity are particularly attached to a certain translation of the Bible. For example, the Anglican Church refuses to use any Bible other than the King James Bible. However, other Churches continually change which version of the Bible they endorse (usually to promote progress) or do not require an attachment to any particular Bible (usually to permit diversity of opinion). As a result, it is hard to peg exactly how many Bibles are used. Historically there are over 450 Biblical translations into English alone. Of the English Bibles, the most common are the: KJV, NKJV, RSV, NRSV, NASB, and the NIV. However, there are numerous still common Bibles in English that are just slightly less famous.
