I would contact the IRS. Supposedly the company you worked for was suppose to turn them in. They will send you copies
10 days after you send in your w2s that's if you do it online
With your federal return, yes. With your state return, see the instructions. But if in doubt, you won't get into any trouble for doing it. But get your taxes filed or at least an extension today even if you can't find your W-2 forms. If you file without your W-2 forms, the IRS will send you a letter later asking you to send them in.

If I am not mistaken you would need to contaact the IRS to get copies, being that employers must send in a red copy of all w2s to them. Yes, the whole point of W-2s and 1099 is the IRS receives the same info you do...albeit now except for the smallest of filers, they require it in an electronic format. Yes, you can probably get them from the IRS, but that will be an arduous task...requiring lots of requests, certified documentation you are who you are and such...and a fairly long time. Your best bet is to contact the employer, they normally have copies for a few years at least...they may charge you some nominal fee, but unlikely (especially if you ask nicely)...or whoever did your return may have a copy too.

No... especially if they did not prepare them for you. If they prepared them for you, then they are only obligated to give you the original output. (Although it would be pretty jerky of them to not provide you copies for a fee, etc)

I am a tax preparer in Pontotoc, MS. Business have until JANUARY 31st to actually put their W2s in the mailbox to send out. Ashley Furniture W2s will be mailed out from Wisconsin, so they should be received by Feb 5th. That is just an estimated time, but IRS requires the forms be mailed out NO Later than JAN 31. Hope this helps
