Hmm. Good question and a hard one to answer. I am sure that the Santa in the stores are just playing Santa and aren't the real Father Christmas. Once, when my children were very young, I dressed up as Father Christmas at a party. My kids figured out it was I but my niece didn't know and wouldn't come near me. I am sure that the presents I got when I was young were real, were mine to keep and I sure was glad to get them.
