every dog breed and dog in gemeral has it's own personality.
Alaskan huskies are not an actual breed but consist of a mix of Siberian huskies, Wolves and/or usually gun dogs like the labrador to improve sled pulling. If you are interested in Huskies check out the Alaskan Malamute.
They're Alaskan Huskies.
they were bred to be working dogs.
Siberian huskies and samoyeds
Pitbulls, dobermans, huskies, and alaskan malamutes.
There isn't really an Alaskan husky breed. its just Siberian huskies and Alaskan malamutes. Alaskan huskies are not a breed in itself they are bred by different dogs to produce the best possible working dogs. but the scientific name for a Siberian husky is Canis familiaris.
Siberian Huskys are related to Alaskan huskies through there ancestors. Just like they are related to all other dogs through there ancestors. The reason all dogs are related to each other is because they are all related to there ancestors the wolves
Not much, most races are run with Alaskan huskies or Siberian huskies because those dogs are faster.
No. Huskies are domestic dogs, and we pretty much control their numbers.
Huskies and Alaskan Malamutes are my opinion for the best dogs for the iditarod because that is what these breeds are meant to do. They have a tough, thick coat that will keep them warm in the very cold weather. And they have very strong paws and legs. Things like the iditarod are one of the reasons these dogs are in this world today. This is my opinion but it makes sense to me.
If a musher is looking for speed they'll use mostly mutts who have many different breeds in their lineage and who have acclimated to the cold weather and running super long distances. If they just want to get to the finish line they'll use Huskies and Malamutes. The latter 2 are used more for power than speed, but the mixed breed dogs are bred for speed, power, and ease of training. Most mushers will have a few Huskies and Malamutes on their team to provide an extra "push", but past that an experience Iditarod racer will usually opt for mixed breeds.
Alaskan Malamutes are large breed utilitarian dogs related to Siberian Huskies. They are typically used as sled dogs in cold climates. They can also be used in search and rescue.
