I don't know that it would open any doors such as connections for your novel but you would learn a lot. By taking these classes you would learn the proper way of writing and it would make writing your novel so much easier for you.
Teaching jobs range from the low $20k up to mid-to-high $40K, depending on the school system. Public schools in larger metro areas pay better than parochial/private schools. While you may be tapped to teach a particular language (French, Chinese, etc.) or literature (American, French, Pre-Civil War, etc.) there is no single degree that is for "language and literature." The two are distinct fields. You could major in French and study French literature as part of your program, but in any case, you would be required to complete the requirements of a degree in education in order to be qualified to teach. Teachers must have an undergrad degree and be working on a graduate degree.
I am assuming a degree in Psychology.
You will need a English Degree for writing travel magazines. You need to have proper writing, editing and grammar before you can have anything published in the magazine.
No you don't need a degree to write books. Getting your book published is an entirely another matter.
You should do English Language and English Literature.
You should get at least a C in English Language, but you do not need to have an English Literature qualification, although it is very useful for the future. A C in both English Language and Literature will open many doors for future career prospects.
Journalism and literature, you also need to have a good knowledge of the English language.

No, but you need to speak English as it's the universal language of aviation. I have a feeling the question is really something more like "I'm going to be a commercial pilot when I grow up; why the heck do I have to read Shakespeare?" Even though Shakespeare never saw an airplane, you need to read him because the airlines want you to have a bachelor's degree in aviation if you want to fly an airliner instead of a regional jet or a turboprop...and you need English lit if you want a bachelor's degree.
