Do I need to use a bed skirt if I plan on my top cover being a duvet?

A bed skirt is more of a decorative item. If your duvet covers your box spring it probably isn't necessary but if you like for not to be exposed definitely purchase a bed skirt

Can you get duvet covers for different seasons?
Yes and no. You can get duvet covers in fabrics that are traditionally associated with different seasons (for instance, percale for Summer and flannel for Winter). However, the cover doesn't add much warmth to the duvet - if you want extra warmth for Winter, get a duvet with more filling, and if you just need a little extra warmth for cool nights in Summer, get one with just a small amount of filling.
If I keep my down comforter covered in a duvet does this mean that I don't have to get the comforter dry cleaned?
WHen kept in a Duvet a comforter will not need to be cleaned.
