Jews know only the consonants of the name. The vowels have been lost in time. But it doesn't matter because it's forbidden to speak the name out loud.
Jews refer to God in many other ways today.
They don't think, they know who they are. They are the Jews, God's Chosen People!
With reverence and care, as commanded You Shall Not Use God's Name In Vain.
Perhaps in Christian belief. In Judaism, however, there is no such concept. See:Why didn't the Jews believe in Jesus? What do Jews believe about God?
Jews worship one universal God who created the world. The name of God is not pronounced out loud.
Jews pray to God, or as we call God, Adonai. We do not call God Yahweh. Jews can pray by themselves, but we also pray in community in the synagogue. We are commanded to pray three times a day. Yahweh, by the way, is the way some people pronounce the Hebrew letters, yud, hey, vav, hey as the name of God is written in the Torah, and which Jews pronounce Adonai. The word yud, hey, vav, hey is actually a form of the Hebrew verb to be. We do not know the name of God, and therefore do not believe we are allowed to pronounce it. Orthodox Jews refer to God as HaShem, which is translated as "The Name."
We do know God's name. His name is revealed in Exodus 3:14. God says his name is I AM.
Yahweh (it means "I am, who am.")
Only God is worshiped by Jews.Jews have immense respect for Abraham and consider him a prophet because he abandoned the polytheism of the Chaldeans in Mesopotamia and followed God's command without question and become the progenitor of numerous peoples: Israelites, Edomites, Ishmaelites/Arabs. But he is not worshiped.Absolutely not. Judaism is a monotheistic belief system in which God is the only one to be worshiped. Worshiping mortals or any physical objects is considered idolatry.
Hashem literally means "the Name" and is a reverential title used by Jews to refer to God without saying a more religious or spiritual title. Many religious Jews refer to God as Hashem in order to avoid unnecessarily using one of God's actual names in daily conversation.
When the Jews ask Moses.....who sent you....God said tell them "I AM that I AM" The name of God was so sacred to them they were afraid to say it...Ex. 3:13-14
The most fundamental motivation of the Jews is to sanctify God's name.
Hercules is the son of Zeus, who was a Greek/ Roman mythological god. Yahweh (or Yhwh) is the name of God, the God of Jews and Christians
