the temple is Hashems dwelling area its His Palace and the holies of holies is his master bedroom where his spirit is rested in with the commandments of His people

WE pray there because its the closest we can get to our holiest site where He rests

The Jews are waiting until we can be brought back out of our exile and be happy with building our temple again we pray there so that we ask Him to let us be done with our exile and let us serve You more HolyOne
