I think I say eight. But I may not have been looking at the same subway as you were. Mayby not even the same city or the same county. Really don't you think a question like this is to vague. Why don't you just count the cars.

The first thing I would check is the vacuum supply line. The HVAC controls are operated by vacuum supplied from the engine. The line may be disconnected or cracked.
As I understand it all of the GM "A" body cars have the same roof line. That would be the Chevy Celebrity, the Pontiac 6000, the Buick Century and the Oldsmobile Cierra of the "A" body years 1982 to 1996?.
