Sadly the Plains warbonnet has been adopted in modern times by many tribes who did not traditionally wear it; they did this to pander to tourists who expect "Indians" to look like a preconceived idea of cartoon Indians.
If you visit the Seminole in Florida today you will find native Americans wearing Plains warbonnets; similarly Navajos, Apaches, Santa Clara Pueblo residents, Cherokees, Delawares and many others can be seen wearing that non-traditional headdress which their ancestors would not recognise.
