Sponges just release eggs and sperm into the water, where it combines as the water flows back and forth. They can also produce asexual "buds" that just grow out of their bodies.

Why porifera are considered as animal inspite of that they are non-motile?

Most of the porifera (sponges) have a larval form that IS motile. They can reproduce asexually, a piece of sponge can grow into a whole new sponge. But they also reproduce sexually which produces a larva and not a spore or 'seed' that grows into a new sponge. The porifera can not produce their own food as plants do. They 'prey' on miniscule plants and animals which they filter from the water passing thru their PORES. Therefore they are animals and not plants.

How are animals belonging to the phylum porifera different than other animals?

The phylum Porifera is the same thing as sponges. Sponges have no symmetry, which is different from all other animals. They reproduce asexually, and only have a couple of types of tissues, which they use to capture and digest nutrients in the water. The animals belonging to porifera are just combination of cells with loose organization. They do not have well defined mechanism to transport material inside. They use diffusion for this purpose. There are very less no. of tissues.
