I'm not very sure, but if he kills Itatchi, then he'd probably return to Konoha because he's had his revenge and probably nothing else to do. To me, he was never evil. He just wanted revenge because of a bad things Itatchi did to the Uchiha Clan. Which he killed everyone in the clan.
