CHEATER! hahahaha At the end of Uglies Tally decides she wants to stay in the smoke and live with David whom was born and raised outside of the city. She throws the tracking device given to her by Dr. Cable into a fire, trying to destroy it. The device sends a signal to Dr. Cable and the specials come and take all the smokies, except for David and Tally, and destroy the smoke. Tally and David go to the city and brake into the Specials building in hopes of saving their friends and David's parents. They find Shay has already been turned pretty and David's father Az is dead. they escape with the remaining smokies and go to the Rusty Ruins. Maddy (David's mom) has come up with a cure for the lesions that make pretties happy and compliant, but she wont give the cure to Shay without her consent. Tally gives her own consent to take the cure and confesses to giving away the smoke. She and shay then go to the city where tally gives herself up to be pretty.

The conflict of Uglies is when it came time for Tally to turn Pretty, she couldn't because Shay ran away. The choices she had were to stay Ugly or show them where Smoke is.When she got there she realized that when they have the operation they don't just change your look but they create lesions in your brain that make pretties think differently.
Does zane really die in the uglies series?
Yes. I recently just finished the Specials. Tally pushes Zane away because she thinks (with her special mind) that Zane isn't good enough for her. When she Finally "cures" herself she realizes that Zane was always perfect for her and that she loves him. So while shes in the hospital (while a war is going on) they here the beeping of a life support machine. Shay tried to tell Tally to stay away but Tally already knew that it was Zane. There were doctors trying to help Zane but it was too late. At first the doctors were hesitant to let Tally see Zane but eventually they gave in and let her see him. Tally describes seeing him with her "special sight" and how his face is paler than normal and his lips a tint of blue, she said she knew he was dead. Tally whispers, "I'm sorry." to Zane because she knows its her fault hes dead. she causes the war which led to the lack of doctors in the hospital. not to mention she dragged Zane out to the New Smoke for her own selfish reasons, she wanted him to be a special with her.
