I do not know about 'united church' but I have come across Christians discussion sites and websites where the consensus is that 'hell' was a figure of speech used by Jesus - someone even claimed it was a refuse burning site at the time of Jesus!
Jesus himself certainly believed in hell and describes it as eternal (forever) punishment.
Unitarianism is a branch of Christianity and they do consider themselves Christians. They differ from other types of Christians because they do not believe in the idea of the Trinity. (please note that Unitarian Universalism is a different religious movement, not to be confused with Unitarian Christianity)
Unitarian beliefs typically revolve around the idea of one God rather than the Christian concept of the Holy Trinity. Unitarians emphasize individual freedom in interpretation of scripture, reason over strict adherence to doctrine, and the belief in the inherent goodness of humanity. They often focus on social justice and equality.
Unitarians approach their religious experience by understanding God as one person. In contrast, revivalists believe that God has revealed himself in three persons.
Unitarians, Jehovah Witnesses, and Mormons don't believe in the Trinity.
An agnostic is unlikely to believe in hell. An atheist will definitely not believe in hell because belief in hell is as irrational as belief in deities and supernatural beings.
House of Unitarians - Copenhagen - was created in 1927.
There is no specific number to Unitarians. There are big amounts around the world.
