Yes. They tend to rust. Suggest you have the car pushed (I let mine roll down a hill). You can also try hitting them with a hammer (don't do it too hard), but it's a lot easier to have it pushed to free them.
Bleeding your brakes can help remove air bubbles and moisture from the brake fluid, which can improve brake responsiveness and performance. However, if your brakes are locking up, it may be due to other issues such as a malfunctioning brake proportioning valve, stuck calipers, or worn brake components. While bleeding can improve overall brake function, it may not directly resolve the locking issue. It's best to diagnose the root cause of the problem for a proper solution.
a safety system which prevents the wheel on a motor vehicle from locking while braking.
Most of the time it is caused by the disk (rotor) being warped for previous "locking up" the brakes. If you've ever slammed on the brakes that could be the reason why. Basically it's a rotor problem most of the time.
a safety system which prevents the wheel on a motor vehicle from locking while braking.
False. The ABS does the pumping for you while you control the vehicle to a stop.
An anti-lock braking system, or ABS is a safety system which prevents the wheels on a motor vehicle from locking up (or ceasing to rotate) while braking. anti lock brakes were designed so that when you do a "panic stop" or slam on your brakes, it will control your wheels so they dont slip or loose traction.
to reduce your speed as quickly as possible while maintaing steering control of your car. technique of applying your brakes to slow or stop quickly without locking your wheels
If we are talking about while moving there is a serious problem with steering suspension or brakes.
You have a sensor in the ignition locking system that needs to be replaced. To cheeply get by the problem take out the locking relay.
To maintain directional control during a hard or panic stop. Think about it. If your brakes lock, you go into a skid and lose control of the car. Anti-lock brakes prevent the brakes from locking up, and throwing the vehicle into an uncontrollable skid. This system allows maximum deceleration without having the brakes lock, which, in turn, allows the driver the ability to maintain control of the vehicle while coming to the most rapid stop possible.
the abs light means you have a problem in your brake system it also means get it to a shop and have it fixed before the brakes fail and you are in a wreck as for feeling like it wants to go when the brakes are applied that in itself tells you there is a problem if the brakes are inadequate while stopped, how is it going to stop you in an emergency
They aren't, however if they are locking on your 106 then the 1st thing to do is to check your tyre's have plenty of tread, and that they are good quality tyres. If the car has ABS there is a bigger problem. If its the rear locking up before the front it may be due to the brake bias valve needing adjusting.Of course your brakes will lock on ice or other slippery surfaces, so dont brake hard and gradually increase the braking force.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Having too much pressure (air) in your tyres can also be a cause, as there will be less of the tyre in contact with the road.If the brakes are locking when the car has been parked for a while, it is usually the rear brakes sticking. This can be resolved by rocking it backwards and forwards, either manually or by using first and reverse gears.I have also known the friction linings to come off the the rear brake shoes and jam/lock the rear wheels. This requires the rear wheels and brake drums to be removed and new brake shoes fitted.
