I have rocked back and forth all my life im not sure why and thought i was the only one a freak or something it is strangely comforting and theraputic and seems to have done me no harm sometimes the urge is to great to resist some people i have noticed shake their feet to get to sleep occasionally this is enough for me but sometimes i rock a full body motion i seem to do it less now that im older my parents thought it was a sign i needed to go to the toilet but that is not true it seems to tire you out and help you get to sleep maybe the same way you rock a baby to sleep some say it is a subconcious way of feeling close to the womb i think its just a natural way somepeople get to sleep. i hope this has been a help.
