No. Some will give a false positive for methamphetamine, depending on amount of medication in system. Most ADHD will show up as other types of amphetamines though; depending on precision and scrutiny of lab work order.

If you are legally prescribed a stimulant, it would be wise to provide the knowledge and proof of prescription before you take a drug test.

What drugs show up as methamphetamine's on drug screens?

Any medication related to the amphetamine-class of meds has the potential to show up as an amphetamine in a drug test. Most drug tests will actually test for amphetamines, the class of drugs to which methamphetamine belongs. Some common medications that belong in the amphetamine class are: Adderall, Dexedrine, ProCentra, and Vyvanase. Most amphetamine-class medications are marketed as either treatments for attention deficit or weight loss. Dextromethamphetamine HCl is sold under the trade name Desoxyn, as a rare treatment for narcolepsy or ADHD. Chemically speaking, it's the hydrochloride salt of d-methamphetamine, and has the same biological effects as the street drug. (Though it is metabolized slightly differently in its salt form, as opposed to its freebase "crystal" form found on the street.) However, it is usually prescribed in small doses of 5-15mg, versus the much larger doses recreational users of meth will often take, and has markedly different effects at those doses. Some drug tests will not test solely for methamphetamine, but other amphetamines as well. A number of more common medications for ADD and ADHD contain amphetamines, such as Adderall (mixed amphetamine salts) and Dexedrine (d-amphetamine salts.)

Does acid show up on drug tests?

The majority of drug tests only test for 5 drugs: marijuana, cocaine, pcp, methamphetamine, and opiates. So unless a drug tests is testing specifically for LSD,(which they typically do not) then LSD will not cause a positive.

Is ADHD medication similar to cocaine?

Yes, most ADHD medications are MUCH like cocaine, both are in the class of Amphetamine drugs. Cocaine comes from a plant and is natural, ADHD medications are man-made and are patented by drug companies to make BIG $$$. This is why cocaine is illegal.

What drug test needs to be done to detect Ritalin?

Standard drug tests (SAMHSA-5 etc) do not detect methylphenidate. It must be tested for specifically. It has been known to produce false positives for amphetamines and methamphetamine on drug tests.

Can bacterial growth in urine result in false positive for methamphetamine?

How can methamphetamine show up in your system if i don't smoke meth?

Methamphetamine can be detected in a drug test even if one does not smoke/abuse meth. One way this is possible is that methamphetamine was ingested in another way, such as orally in the form of prescription pills (Desoxyn is a prescription form of methamphetamine hydrochloride). Certain decongestant inhalers also contain an isomer of methamphetamine. Though this compound lacks the abuse potential of its enantiomer (non-superimposable mirror-image molecule), it may still show up as 'meth' on a drug test. Finally, other medications can also cause false positives for methamphetamine on certain tests. If one test gives a positive result, more advanced tests can be used to distinguish between positive results and false positives. If one has used the aforementioned products which contain methamphetamine, this should be brought to the attention of the test administrator.
