Swype is a new text input technology for very fast texting on small, mobile devices. It is made by Swype Inc. and you can learn more at Swype.com. It is preloaded on many phones like the Droid X. Swype has had a beta program where you could download it onto your Android phone, but the beta program is currently closed. You can register on their web site for notification the next time the beta program opens.

yeah theres android function not sure how to get to it though
One of the best features of the Samsung Captivate Android phone is the Swype application. This allows you to type much faster on your phone without having to tap each letter on the on-screen keyboard individually. Instead, you glide your thumb across the keys you intend to press if you were typing normally, and the Swype artificial intelligence will predict the words you're typing. This is easily one of the best applications on the market, and fortunately it comes natively within the Samsung Captivate. Rather than having to use both of your hands to type on this smartphone, you can use one hand with Swype.
it is a very good phone it may not have a slide out keyboard but you can swype on the screen Im not sure if its just my optimus or all of them, but mine goes so slow! some days its just fine and doesn't do anything weird, but other times it makes me so mad. Its not smooth when you use the touchscreen! and sometimes it wont turn off! i was so close to just cracking the phone in half this morning. it wont unfreeze when i fist turn it on so i always have to open the back and take out the SD card and put it back in and i makes me so angry. my friend has the g2 and it works very well. way better investment to get a nice phone than this one. once again, I'm not sure if just this one optimus or all of them. i highly advise anyone to buy a phone like the g2, my touch, or vibrant, WAYYYYY better investment.
Yes. The HTC Evo 4G offers three text input options. First, and most basic, is the standard HTC keyboard. The Evo also has voice-to-text (the ability to record a voice and convert it to writing). The Evo can also run a beta version of Swype.
