It is not mentioned in the bible at all.
Yes, there were wasps alive in the ice age, but not where the ice was. Not all of the earth was covered with ice, and wasps and other creatures moved to warmer climes until the ice retreated.

Some species of wasp are but not all.
There are many types of wasps (over 100,000 species), but they usually fall into one of the two categories - solitary or social. Solitary wasps - mud daubers, pollen wasps, potter wasps. Social wasps - polistine paper wasps.
Bees are furry, wasps aren't. Bees are mostly stocky, wasps are mostly more slender. Bees are vegetarians all their lives, wasps are carnivores in some points in their lives.
Wasps can symbolized unchecked aggression. The wasp is a seemingly angry, fearful creature that viciously defends itself and the hive at all costs.
For wasps, and all ants and bees for that matter, the queen is the only female that lays eggs in the colony. All the other females are workers, and they are infertile. So no queen, no colony.

Young queen wasps search for a sheltered place in which to hibernate during autumn (fall). All other wasps will die when the cold weather comes.
