Any metal recycler will buy them. Contrary to popular belief, tabs off of soda and beer cans do not bring in a lot of money. They are aluminum and would bring in just a few dollars per pound. .

IT depends on what you mean by "good." If by good you mean in terms of financial gain then yes, soda machines are good for schools. But there is also the other side to the coin in which people need to buy the soda in order for the school to make any money from it. And this is where the problem comes up. Students typically are the primary consumers for the sugary drinks, imagine that. This in the long run, can cause health problems for the students. So one could say soda machines are "good" for schools because who cares about the health of the students anyway, right? Certainly not the administration.
Hospitals do not buy soda tabs, but they will collect them. They can earn money when they turn them in. Some schools also collect soda tabs.
