Dwarf rabbits can eat the same foods as other pet rabbits. When it comes to pet rabbit diet, the important factor isn't breed but size: small rabbits eat smaller portions!
Rabbits can eat some varieties of lettuce in moderation. Dark-coloured varieties (like romaine, green leaf, red leaf) are healthy and can be included in the rabbit's "salad," but too much can lead to gas or diarrhea or other illness, so lettuce shouldn't be fed every day. White/light-coloured varieties of lettuce should be avoided entirely because they too easily lead to diarrhea, and they're low in nutritional value anyway.
See the related question below about the pet rabbit diet (it applies to dwarves as well).
Of course. NO!! Too much lettuce for any kind of rabbit gives them a stomach ache. Also cold food gives rabbits an upset stomach.
Animal Expert strikes again! Rabbits can eat lettuce, wild rabbits DO EAT Lettuce, if you don't believe me leave the gate to your garden open and see what happens. The difference between wild rabbits eating lettuce and caged rabbits being fed lettuce is this: Wild rabbits can go and dig up roots and eat things to help them if they eat too much and have a belly ache, caged rabbits are limited to what you feed them. I would recommend NOT feeding caged or housed rabbits lettuce because it will give them a bellyache. Remember Peter Rabbit when he ate too much in Mr. McGregors garden! Does animalexpert40 think that someone warms up wild rabbits food for them before they eat it in the wild????
Baby rabbits shouldn't eat any plant materials (including lettuce) before the age of 12 weeks. At 12 weeks, you can start introducing dark leafy greens in small portions.
Don't feed iceberg or other light-coloured lettuce or cabbage to rabbits, and remove light-coloured parts from darker lettuce leaves. Not only are the light parts of plants low in nutritional value, but they often cause diarrhea or other problems in rabbits (especially babies).
See the related question below for more details about the rabbit diet.
