Yes.
Panda bears, the bile bear and the aisian black bear
Bile from the liver, specifically from bears is used as a medical remedy in China and other places. The bile is also used in the forbidden trade in China.
They are important to the Chinese because they make money. The black bears of the region, nicknamed 'Moon Bears', are often used as a source for bile (produced by the liver but stored in the gall bladder). People and many animals have bile, but the Chinese and others who believe in this traditional/alternative medicine believe that bear bile has medicinal properties. Originally, bears were hunted for their gall bladders but as bear populations declined and people around the globe protested this, some Chinese began to farm bile by keeping bears alive in cages and taking bile through a tube over time. The bile is taken through a tube surgically implanted through their abdomen, to keep the tube intact, the bears are kept in small cages. Because of the perceived inhumane from pain from the tube, the small cages, etc. many people protest this use. The process causes the bears much pain. There is actually footage of a moon bear trying to gnaw the bars off of the cage so it could escape. This caused the poor bear to loose all of its teeth and get incredibly painful sores and gum diseases. It's really sad. Proponents believe that fewer wild bears are killed by farming bile because a live bear farmed for bile produces more bile over time than killing it. The demand is such that as more is produced, and the price goes down, more people buy it, so there is still a problem with poaching and killing wild bears.
The black bears are killed for their gall bladders, which is used by oriental quack medicines.
The Gall bladder sores bile which is created in the liver. Bile is used in digestion.
People are putting tubes in their stomach and taking out the bile for medicines (yuck). Even though we can survive if we didn't have Bile, for some randon reason moon bears can't. So of course no one thinks about the moon bears and lets them die afterwards and gets some more (completely unfair).
It is due to their bile. Some people think bile can cure you of certain illnesses. When their bile is taken out (using a pump and yes it is inserted in their liver), the wound becomes infectious. Another reason is because of deforestation. due to human's selfishness, we have cut down many forests. You're Welcome! (:D)
Estimates suggest that thousands of moon bears die each year due to habitat loss, poaching, and the illegal bear bile trade. While exact numbers can vary, it is believed that in some regions, hundreds of bears are killed annually for their bile and other body parts. Conservation efforts are ongoing to protect this vulnerable species and reduce their mortality rates.
no because bile is stored in the bile duct
Rats do not have a gallbladder because their liver produces bile continuously, so they do not need a storage organ like the gallbladder to store bile.
