They risk anything for the cub and hunt for it, while the male watches/protects the cubs. The mothers clean the cubs carefully by licking them.

a male panther
The term "black panther" may be applied to black-colored leopards or to black jaguars in the Americas. The young are born live and cared for by their mother. Like most big cats, panther litters are small : just 2 to 4 kittens, called cubs. The leopard cubs are born after a gestation period of 90 to 105 days. Black jaguars have dark brown skin that does not contrast much with their black spots. Jaguar cubs have about the same gestation period before birth: 93 to 105 days. A female jaguar will not allow a male jaguar anywhere near her cubs.
A black panther lives in a den to keep it's babies safe from predators and the mother can keep a close eye for any predators then to alert the cubs.

The panther cubs nurse from their mother until they are old enough to eat solid food (meat), when she will chew it a bit to get them started.
A lion could not eat a black panther because they both live in separate regions of the world. though possible if they met the lion would likely win because of it's pride males which defend his pride members and cubs.
they travel by themselves, alone. if a mother has cubs that are old enough to follow her but too young to leave her, she may travel with them.
