they are diurnal because they are never spotted during the night. they always apear at the surface during the day not the night. eventhoug people say that they are nocturnal i think that they are diurnal. if you think that you are a smart person please think. when have you ever seen a picture of a killer whale are any whale at night? think and dont be and idiot
WELLLL.. i beg to differ..
I know for a fact that blue whales do not sleep. This is because if they did, then they would drown. Think about it, how to whales breath? through their blowholes. How do they breath if they are sleeping? They don't. That's why most whales, it not all, are neither nocturnal or diurnal, because they dont sleep. Also, whales dont have involuntary breathing, they have to think about breathing and they have to make sure that they actually breath every 30 minutes or so. They do, however, take little napes now and then, but other than that, they get their energy from their food. Now it's time for you to think and stop being an idiot because CLEARLY most of the whales would be dead if they slept. If you dont believe me, then look up 'do whales sleep', and you'll find that they either dont sleep, or half of their brain sleeps at a time, like dolphins.
Common bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus) are thought to be diurnal.

However, most studies have been done during the day when it's relatively easy to see the animal's behavior, so it's possible that this is a biased conclusion and with more studies we may find these animals are very active at night as well.
There are many species of dolphins. Most dolphins are not nocturnal. One dolphin that is nocturnal is the Hawaiian spinner dolphin.
Bottlenose dolphins sleep in short intervals throughout the day, but this is true mostly for wild dolphins. Those who are captive tend to sleep more during the night.
Dolphins are nocturnal.
good question i think they are diurnal
Dolphins are nocturnal
Many species of dolphins are nocturnal, meaning they are active at night. Those nocturnal species feed at night. Other species sleep or rest during the nighttime hours.
Bottle nose Dolphins are Diurnal
The spinner dolphin is a type of dolphin that can be found in the off-shores of tropical waters such as in Hawaii. They are nocturnal feeders because they hunt and eat in the night.
A dolphin is not nocturnal... Dolphins sleep with one half of their brain plus one eye closed, then switching to the other side of the brain and the other eye closed during other parts of the day -- slowing down everything inside their bodies and moving...in other words are not nocturnal, they hunt during the day and sleep during the night...like humans.

neither...if it were to fall asleep, it would die
Dolphins because water is often murky. Light doesn't travel far below the surface. Bats because they've evolved to be nocturnal when they're less threatened by predators and have plenty of prey for themselves.
Yes, stingrays are indeed nocturnal. During daylight hours this marine animal buries itself in the loose sand and comes out at dusk to begin feeding.
No, the word 'nocturnal' is an adjective, a word that describes a noun: a nocturnal creature, a nocturnal scene.
No they are not nocturnal
Beavers are nocturnal and diurnal (awake during the day, or "non nocturnal", which is not the proper way to say it). Primarily, nocturnal though.
