They need about 2 cups according to your turtles size!!it needs to be past his shell a bit so he floats!if he ain't floating fill it up a little bit more they also need a bit of land but not to much they always need some water

∙ 12y agoIt depends. If it's an an aquatic turtle then yes, it needs to be able to swim in and go under water with some surface above water. Tortoises and land turtles need enough water for them to soak in, but not enough to drown in.
