Do brown bears eat humans?

Normally, no. Human is not on the menu for brown bears. Actually brown bears are omnivores and they get most of their protein from salmon. They eat a lot of berries, grasses, roots, etc. and get much of their dietary nutrition from the aforementioned berries, grasses, roots, etc.

Brown bear attacks on humans are not common, but they do occur. While there are several well documented cases of brown bears attacking and eating humans in recent years, most brown bear attacks are motivated by surprise or curiosity rather than hunger. Pepper spray and firearms (in that order) are most often recommended as protection when traveling in areas frequented by brown bears.
