Bunnies, well most animals, dig to keep their claws maintained. It might be a good idea to put some kind of scratching post (like for a cat) in its cage for it to claw on.

Deer rub their antlers on trees to keep their antlers maintained and bears use trees to keep their claws maintained. It is natural for your bunny to do this. It is instinct for it.

Rabbits will tear carpet up and eat it. In some instances they recommend using carpet (a small square) in a rabbit's cage if he has sore hocks. In this case I recommend indoor/outdoor very short nap. The rabbit will still chew on it but not as much, when they do it should be replaced immediately, likewise if the rabbit soils it. Sore hocks should be kept clean and dirty carpet holds many germs. Carpet squares are also used as a training tool. You use a carpet square to train your rabbit to pose for the judges.

First answer: no they eat lettuce and grass

Correction: Pet rabbits eat lots and lots of hay; they also eat some pellets, and some dark leafy greens. Grass is not a major part of the diet (except in its dried form: hay), and lettuce should be limited (white varieties can cause diarrhea and should be avoided entirely; too much dark varieties can, too, so be careful).

Bunnies absolutely can not eat carpet: it is very dangerous, even deadly! Carpet can lead to a digestive blockage, serious illness (GI stasis), and death. Not all rabbits try to eat carpet, but if yours does, you can't allow him any access to carpet. If your rabbit eats any carpet, try to encourage lots of hay and water (these can help the bunny work the carpet through its system), and keep a very close eye on the bunny's health. If you see any signs of ill-health, bring the bunny to a vet immediately! GI stasis can lead to death within the day.

First answer: They chew everything so give them a piece of wood or something because otherwise it will eat its cage, furniture, they even chew on clothes!

More information: Rabbit teeth never stop growing. In the wild, they wear their teeth down by eating twigs and bark, and lots of grass and thick, rough weeds and other woody plants. So, rabbits are chewers by nature: they're always nibbling on something. You need to give pet rabbits something safe and healthy to chew on, otherwise they'll chew on something else.

Not only can pet rabbits ruin your clothes and furniture, but they can get poisoned, electrocuted, and they can get digestive problems -- all of which can be deadly. Also, if your rabbit doesn't have anything to wear its teeth down on, the teeth can overgrow and cause all kinds of expensive and deadly problems.

A piece of wood isn't likely to interest your pet bunny. Also, depending on the wood, it can even be dangerous. You have to make sure you give your rabbit toys and furniture that "enriches" them: it has to be safe, and it has to be interesting.

The best thing to give your rabbit to chew on is grass hay. Hay is actually the best way to keep a rabbit happy and healthy in all kinds of ways: it wears down their teeth, it keeps their digestive system moving, it encourages them to drink more water (which is good for the urinary system), and it keeps them busy and interested, so it's good for their mental health, too.

Give your bunny access to grass hay 24/7. Grass hay is for example timothy, brome, orchard grass, meadow mix. Legume hay, like alfalfa (lucerne) and clover is not healthy for most adult rabbits, but it's good for babies, pregnant and nursing rabbits, and in some other special cases (speak with your vet!).

Other things you can give your rabbit to chew on are toys and furniture made out of safe paper products and wood products. You have to make sure they are rabbit-safe, though.
