There are several different kinds of caimans, and they all belong to the family Caimaninae. Some examples are caiman yacare, caiman latirostris, and caiman crocodilus.
Alligators do not live in tropical rainforests, but their cousins the caimans do live in and around the rainforests of South America - the Black Caiman, for example.

There are 6 different caiman species living in Brazil- the spectacled caiman, yacare caiman, broad-snouted caiman, smooth-fronted caiman, cuvier's caiman, and the black caiman. Of these 6 species the black caiman is by far the largest and is also the only species the poses a threat to an adult human. The nearest crocodiles to Brazil live in Venezuela (the American crocodile, Crocodylus acutus, and the Orinoco crocodile, Crocodylus intermedius).
