There is a difference. Internal feritilisation takes place in the female's body while external fertilisation does not. External fertilisation usually requires a medium such as water, which the sperms can use to swim towards the egg cell. External fertilisation usually occur in fish and amphibians. Internal fertilisation occurs in mammals, insects, birds, reptiles.
Internal is internal... the egg/eggs are fertilized inside the female through the use of a copulatory organ to deposit sperm.
External: the egg is fertilized by sperm outside of the body... males and females release their gametes (eggs & sperm) into a common environment.
Internal fertilization means the fertilization is occurring inside the body of an organism. InternalFertilization usually happens in the female body. The offspring also gains more nutrients and moisture than the externally fertilized organism giving it the better chances of survival
External fertilization means the fertilization is occurring outside the body of an organism. Externalfertilization occurs when the male gamete or sperm meets the female gamete egg.
Internal Fertilization is when the egg cell is fertilized inside the body of the mother, e.g. in mammals.
External Fertilization is when the egg cell is released out of the mother's body and then fertilized by the male, e.g. in fish.
Mice, (like all other mammals) breed internally.
