Chow Chow breeds are prone to shed the worst during the summer, but all dogs shed constantly like humans do. They make room for new hair growth. But in long hair and cold climate breeds, they shed their whole undercoat from spring to fall. Then the new undercoat comes in for the winter. Hope this helps. Brush them daily outside, this will cut down on the hairy furniture and carpet inside. :) If you wanted to, you could even shave them (make their hair only about an inch or two long) during the summer, their coat will grow back before the cold winter hits. This will help with the shedding (at least the hair will be shorter and won't take as long to fall out).
A large amount due to their thick fluffy coats. Chow chows have a fluffy coat, which means they shed a lot, but you can prevent a chow from shedding a lot. If you comb your chow's fur everyday, the loose fur will come off and the chow will hardly even shed. Brushing your chow everyday or at least 3 days a week is recommended.
Chow Chows are seasonal shedders and shed heavily. There is a dense undercoat as well as a topcoat; therefore, a Chow Chow needs daily brushing. The hair tends to gather in tumbleweed like clusters rather than lay flat like the hair of other breeds, making clean-up somewhat easier.
How ever much chow a chow chow can chew.
No, Chows are seasonal shedders but actually shed lightly through out the year. However, no dog is truly hypoallergenic.
