Christ spoke in Matthew 5:18 "For Verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled"

So there is your answer, not from me not from some preacher but from Christ himself.

The problem with the Law is many people never spend the time actually reading the law which was laid out in the book of Exodus chapter 20, further they don't use the King James text which was translated from the original text. This causes failure in understanding what the words mean in the law (10 commandments).

An example is the word kill which is Hebrew word 7523 "ratsach" and it means to dash in pieces ... especially to murder.

Many refuse to join our Military as objectors based on this law. However, this law does not apply to military actions in which you are not the aggressor. People are allowed to protect themselves and their family to the point of using lethal force.

This law equally does not apply to accidental death which had no plan or purpose (hatrid), the act of an axe blade slipping from a handle is given in the biblical text to support this definition (Deuteronomy 19:5-6).

The law does apply to those who result to killing others as their means for obtaining that which they desire (no matter what the desire).

The same holds true of understanding the words "The Sabbath day" Exodus 20:8 which refers to "the sabbath", which is Passover. Not Easter or Ishtar but Passover, which occurs 14 days after the spring equinox.

Therefore, Yes Christians are REQUIRED to adhere to the Law (10 commandments), by order of our King (Jesus Christ). However, they are further required to understand when and how these commands apply. You won't lean this from a movie or a sermon, you must study the word to dig out the meaning of the law. Anyone can purchase a KJV bible or acquire the text for free on line. Further the Strong's concordance is available for purchase and its available on line (I would caution using the online resources unless you trust them, I have found some of their data to be altered). So get you a KJV bible and a Strong's concordance and look up the law in Exodus 20 and dig into what it says to do. Use the Strong's and other biblical passages to assist you with understanding and application of those 10 commandments.

Remember to Learn, Keep and Do them.

What percentage of christians know the 10 commandments?

This is an impossible question to answer. However, within many services (especially in the Anglican Church, and especially during Lent) the 10 commandments are used frequently to remind us of God's will for humankind. Therefore, if Christian attend these services they will no doubt know the commandments. Therefore, it is highly likely that the percentage of Christians who know the 10 commandments is very high - but short of doing a full statistical survey of the world's Christians, an actual figure would be impossible to quote.

What statement describes the Jewish ten commandments?

There are two slightly different versions of the 10 commandments, one in Exodus, one in Deuteronomy. Jews generally refer to the 10 statements, since some of the statements are not in the form of commandments. The 2 versions of the 10 commandments differ in whether we are commanded to keep the Sabbath or to Remember it.
