In the US, it depends on the company. Some companies are very willing to train recent college grads, and in fact may have to, depending on the nature of the work. If the job tasks aren't covered by any existing degree program, the companies have to train them to do what the company does. I've worked for companies where this is the case, in some companies been the recruiter, and in many cases been the trainer. So I can say with some certitude that many companies are looking for transferable skills and ability to learn, not necessarily the specific job experience.
