Cows have the ability to modulate the sounds they produce. A mother will make short low sounds of contentment when the calf is taking milk from a distended udder. At night when the herd is gathering a series of loud bellows from the bull can be heard for miles and lets any stragglers know where the rest of the herd is.

When a sound wave travels through the cows ear, it goes through the little hairs in the ear canal to the ear drum, which go through other little organs and eventually to the brain where it is interpreted as sound that the cow hears.

Cows don't laugh. This is solely a human thing, not a cow or any other animal thing.
