No, but sometimes they do need to be trimmed, depending on the terrain they are on and how much that terrain is able to wear down a bovine's hooves. Mature cattle like bulls and cows are most likely in need of hoof trimming than young cattle are.

Cows lick their noses to clear discharge and foreign particles like hay from them. It is the only way that they have to wipe mucus from their nostrils.
