They'll eat anything if they can get close enough. In fact they will eat many of the Savannah's apex predators like as felines (such as lions, leopards and cheetahs). Typically they feed on fish and other small vertebrates (seperately), when large food is absent, as a side diet. As far as mammals are concerned, notable diet consists of waterbuck, sitatunga, lechwe, wildebeest, zebra, warthog, goats, sheep and cattle. However, they have been know to hunt in facks (usually five or more) which can lead to the capture of larger prey such as Cape buffalos, giraffes, hippopotamus and even the Black Rhinoceros.
