Yes. getting your cheeks pierced DOES LEAVE PERMANENT DIMPLES. You are warned of this before getting them done. I have had mine pierced for about 6 years, and I went an entire year without anything in them, and I had dimples even without the jewelry in. When you puncture the muscle in your cheeks, and put something in the way of that muscle mending completely (in this case a Lebret Stud) They cheek compensates for the jewelry, and heals around it, INDEED leaving permanent dimples. That's just what happens. These piercings are also one of the hardest to heal and up keep. You must always be careful when caring for oral piercings. ALWAYS LISTEN TO THE PIERCERS ADVICE!

You want to be careful about getting facial piercings, like the dimple piercings. Not every person is created the same way and quite often these *trendy piercings (* piercings that are not common place and very experimental, can lead to serious damage that can not be fixed with surgical procedures ) are not thought out very well nor are they performed by someone who really knows what they are doing (even if they say they do) .

Piercing the cheeks poses risks for striking saliva ducts, nerve roots and other body structures that can cause life long facial damage. Just because you saw it in a magazine doesn't mean it real, photo shop is an excellent product. So do your own research into your anatomy and think about what you want to get done before you jump into a mistake you may regret. I already have a list of over 30 women who received piercings at another studio, done by a moron who didn't know what he was doing, scarring, infections, rejection were the problems. Do your research then research your piercer before you get the work done.

How do you get dimples without surgery?

Well, other than the painful, surgical option, you could simply get your cheeks, or non existent dimples pierced. If you leave them in long enough, it will create permanent dimples. It is a less painful and less cheaper way that cosmetic surgery. Although, dimples are a natural born defect.

What is the phenotype of an individual with one allele for dimples and one for no dimples?

This would depend on whether the allele for dimples is dominant or recessive. If the allele for dimples is dominant and the no dimples allele is recessive then the phenotype of the individual would be dimpled. If the allele for no dimples is dominant and the allele for no dimples is recessive then the dimples will not be expressed. If these alleles are codominant then the dimples will be expressed but not as much as in an individual who has both alleles for dimples.

Dimples are a dominant characteristic If one parent does not have dimples and one parent is heterozygous for dimples what chance does a child have for getting dimples?

A dimple is a dominant trait. If a father has two dominant dimple genes (DD) and the mother has two recessive dimple genes (dd), the baby's dimple alleles will be Dd, meaning he will have dimples.
