It's just natural for them to be alone when they die. Some believe dogs just choose to die away from the pack. I recently noticed our dog going to the corner of our yard and clearing a space for herself and laying down. That was a sign that it was time to put her down.
Yes,chances are, if they're old cats and you can't find them anywhere they probably ran away. The reason they run away is because cats can sense death and think they can run away from it.Or, they might have just ran away because they we're being curios and wanted to explore. You could ask around your neighborhood and see if they've seen your cat. Good luck!
When your dog stops eating, stops acknowledging you when you come home, doesn't want to do anything other than sleep or paces a lot....these are usually signs that they are ready to say good bye. Eating is a big thing, and drinking. My dog is 17 and I am having to prepare myself within the next few weeks to say good bye. It's one of the hardest things a person has to do....
Yes for the most part cats will run away to die, if they are outside cats or outside during the day and inside at night. My cat was dying and he tried to run away. We didn't even know he was dying. They run away because they don't want to upset their owner(s). There is something in them that just naturally inclines them to do that.

Dogs leave their "liar" or "den" to die so that they will not foul their "den". It is an instinct thing. They usually do not go very far, just a few feet away, in some cases.
Most do. Most dogs will seek out a familiar yet empty place to die, like under a porch or in a shed.

Females do not go through menopause though sometimes there may be a cessation in heat cycles for a period of time and then they can start back up again. As a female ages, her fertility does drop off but she will not go through menopause as humans do. It is also possible for senior dogs to become pregnant. Dropping off of fertility with age does not mean she cannot become pregnant.
