I found that my dog understands hand signals better but its easier for them if you use both at the same time.
Closing signals can be verbal or nonverbal
Physical. When you yell a dog commands, make sure your voice is stern and you make eye contact, then say your command and point your finger at what you want it to do, such as to tell it to go to bed. You make eye contact say "bed" in a stern voice then point at the bed and watch it to its bed. Do that for 2-4 days until you say bed without the voice and finger make sure you reward it for doing the command.

They don't. They use signals.
Active involvement is the phase of the listening process in which you pay close attention to verbal and nonverbal signals.
The word 'respond' means that the person who said it wants a verbal action from you. In other words a yes or no answer or an explanation.

Verbal communication is better known as talking :)
Non-verbal communication is limited to a few gestures and basic commands, while verbal can lead to conversations, reducing work, and distracts or disrupts other workers.
Verbal communication and non-verbal communication perform different functions, sometimes at the same time and sometimes separately. Neither is better than the other.
