Dolphins are meat eaters, because they eat fish and squid. They can eat up to 40 pounds a day. They need this much food to keep up their energy, because they can swim up to 70 miles a day. Just a fact: When they sleep, they shut off half of their brain so they can be alert of any enemy's. The brain that is not shut off, also needs to make sure the dolphin doesn't drown in the water. This is because dolphins are conscience breathers, meaning they have to remember to breath, unlike us.

No they are not vegetarian. They are carnivores with a preferred diet of fish and squid. The only vegetation they get is that which is in the digestive tract of their prey.
