The Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever, or Toller for short, is a medium-sized breed of gundog bred primarily for hunting. It is the smallest of the retrievers, and is often mistaken for a small Golden Retriever.
Tecnically i think the retriever is better, but it depends on the dog you think would be better for you. Our family babysits a Duck Tolling Retriever, and i think the dog is sweet and very energetic. She loves the water and REALLY loves to fetch. Both breeds are full of energy and should love to swim. But if you want your dog to really like fetching, get the Retriever.
