The above opinion may be true in that person's experience, but it's not a widely recognized fact. Dwarf rabbits have often been known to bond with rabbits bigger than themselves -- even a giant and a dwarf can get along!
Whether or not two rabbits will get along depends on hormones* and individual personality.
There are good ways and bad ways to introduce rabbits. If you have a local rabbit rescue or rabbit-friendly animal shelter, ask if they perform bonding services, or if they have any advice for how to bond two rabbits. There's tons of excellent resources online about bonding rabbits. NEVER LET RABBITS FIGHT! A small bite, invisible at first, can turn into a huge (and expensive) abscess.

* This is one of many reasons why it's widely recommended to neuter/spay rabbits. Two unspayed females can often get along, but two unneutered males will usually fight (to the death!); and a male and female will quickly reproduce. Before you let your rabbits breed, pease consider all the bunnies in shelters waiting to be adopted (many killed simply because there's no room to keep them). Breeding is a big responsibility: don't let it happen by accident!
