no sand absorbs water so crops wouldn't get any water
Farmers and gardeners want to neutralize soils to ensure optimal pH levels for plant growth. Soil pH affects nutrient availability and microbial activity in the soil, ultimately impacting plant health and productivity. By neutralizing acidic or alkaline soils, farmers and gardeners can create an ideal growing environment for their crops.
Plants grow better in soil with the PH (acid-base) they have adapted to. The acidity or the alkalinity of the soil is important to know in order to grow a particular plant. Some plants want a acidic soil and some want a basic soil. However, most plants prefer a neutral to slightly alkaline soil. So, it is important for the farmers to know what type of soil it is in order to balance or neutralize the soil. They should know what type of inorganic substance/fertilizer to add in order to neutralize the soil.
Farmers want to preserve their topsoil because it is the most fertile layer of soil, essential for plant growth. Topsoil also contains important nutrients and organic matter necessary for healthy crops. Preserving topsoil helps maintain soil health and productivity for future generations.
Any plant will grow in the sand if it is watered (mechanically, if need be) according to the plants needs. If you mean "what herbs grow in the sand naturally?" .... I have seen Datura aka jimsonweed grow in the sand... of course there are lots of herbs on this list. Also, did you mean medicinal herbs?
most people use fine, smooth gravel that wont hurt the horses feet. this can be quite expensive, depending on the are that you want to be covered. the other option is sand/dirt but this can be annoying in winter, as it becomes muddy with lots of puddles when it rains.
Because the soil may be too acidic or alkaline to grow the kind of plants or crops they want to grow. Certain species of plants are sensitive to the pH of soil, so the pH must be neutralized in order to compensate for that lower or higher-than-neutral pH level.
It depends on who you are. Urine, dirt, sand, germs, water and lots of of salt is what sea water is. You should not try unless you want to commit suicide.
Soil is a mixture of various particles like sand, silt, clay, and organic matter that do not dissolve in water because the particles are too large to dissolve at a molecular level. Some components of soil may be soluble in water, but the overall structure of soil makes it insoluble as a whole.
Sand is rarely a smart cultivating medium for flowering plants, unless you're growing cactus. Sand, does, however, provide a good drainage option when covered with topsoil deep enough to support the plants you want to grow. From About.com: "Petunias will tolerate any range of soil pH. They don't like to be dry for long periiods, but they also don't like wet feet."
It depends what you are adding it for. If you want to improve the condition of light sandy soil add humus rich material such as compost or peat to help retain moisture .If the soil is clay or heavy add rough sand or gravel to improve drainage. In both cases fork the material in.
Farmers want their cattle to produce high quality meat and a high milk yield
