The male Siamese fighting fish (or Betta splendens) will only fight with another male of the same species. Under normal circumstances they are a quiet, slow moving and peacefull fish. It is only when another male of the same species is introduced to its tank that the Betta becomes territorial and aggressive.
they do fight.

They can't because , Siamese fighting fish are very territorial & will fight . Obviously they're named fighting fish for a reason (: . Your welcome ...
Yes. Its also fun to watch them go into their fighting position! Its the best way to keep two fighting fish. Another way though, is to keep them in a small tank with a plastic divider in the middle so that they can see each other but not get to the them.
Males are larger and have much more colorful and have larger, more elegant fins. Females are small and much less colorful. also, females will not fight each other while males will.
